Open well dangerous for human beings and animals

As a community we tried to seek audience from our local leadership nothing transpired. The coming in of the ZZJR project was a relief to our perennial problem. Through its Community Led Disaster Risk Management, villagers identified the potential hazard and designed an action plan to address it. Working with Caritas and District Development Fund (DDF) we managed to remove old pipes and hides from the well. We also mobilized sand bricks to protect the well. Cement for the construction of the head-work’s, windlass and a 60m rope was procured by the project. Local builders were also capacitated on the Peter Morgan design which was used to rehabilitated the open well.

Villagers mobilized sand, labour and stones to protect

Communities are now using the water point to water their livestock and engaging to livelihoods activities. I now partake in brick molding due to the water point and my household’s economic status has also improved. We are grateful to the ZZJR project.
